MANIPEX-2011 kicks off

IMPHAL Sept 1: A three-day philatelic exhibition cum workshop, MANIPEX-2011 organized by the Department of Posts, Manipur Division kicked off at Imphal Head Post Office today.

The inaugural function was attended by K Kevichusa, director of Postal Services, editor of Imphal Free Press, Pradip Phanjoubam and Dr P Rajumani as the dignitaries.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Kevichusa stated that the endeavor by the exhibition is to create more serious stamp collectors and those who are in the hobby of Philately can showcase their collections through the exhibition. He said that students can inform themselves about the hobby and learn more on the stamps through the organized workshops.

Pradip Phanjoubam stated that stamps have been instrumental in global communication. The advantage of the postal department relies on the importance of the stamps and has provided an important means of communication to one family and friends including official matters from one region to the other, he said.

A painting competition was also held as a part of the MANIPEX.
