Manipur bags international award

IMPHAL, Sept 10: Manipur Tourism has been awarded the “Post that build the best business best in 2011” by Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) in the Travel Mart, 2011.

The PATA Travel Mart was held from September 6 to 9 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

This is the first time Manipur bags an award at an international travel and tourism forum. Manipur had earlier bagged the first national tourism award at Travel and Tourism Fair, 2011 held at Mumbai for “Most Promising New Destination Award”.

During the course of the Travel Mart, Manipur team exhibited the potentials of Manipur Tourism with emphasis on health tourism, tour packages, adventure tourism, hospitality and culture exhibit.

The award was presented during the dinner hosted by Philippine Tourism. 

Manipur team is headed by KK Chettry, commissioner of tourism, and comprises of Santosh Shekhar, manager-business development of Shija Hospitals, Dr L Surjit, president MMTA, HRK Sharma, MD Seven Sisters Holidays, Sommykanta Paonam, Classic Hotels and L Ibochoubi, tourist officer of Manipur Toursim.

Commissioner KK Chettry received the prestigious award from the PATA on behalf of Manipur Tourism.
