Manipur Tourism bags award at Mumbai tourism fair

MUMBAI, Sept 4: Manipur Tourism was today awarded the ‘Most Promising New Destination Award’ at the concluding day of 91st Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) held from September 2 to 4 at Nehru Centre, Mumbai.

The winner was adjudged from among the participants of the fair. More than 400 stakeholders from around the world participated in the fair.

M. Iqbal Mulla, president, Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Sanjiv Agarwal, chairman & CEO, Fairfest Media Ltd and Rajiv Agarwal, executive director, Fairfest Media Ltd was the chief guest, guest of honour and president of the function respectively.

The award was conferred to K. K. Chhetry, commissioner, Toursim, Govt of Manipur and his team consisting of L. Ibochoubi, tourist officer, Govt. of Manipur, Dr. L. Surjit, president, MMTA, HRK Sharma, MD, Seven Sisters Holidays, Santosh Shekhar, manager, Business Development, Shija Hospitals and Paonam Sommykanta, manager, The Classic Hotel for the team effort and showcasing Manipur as the most promising new destination.

This is for the first time the award has been conferred to Manipur for its relentless efforts of the stakeholders in promoting the state as a preferred tourist destination.
