Mobile sale of essential commodities inaugurated to facilitate blockade woes

IMPHAL, September 29: M Yaiskul Meitei, director consumer affairs food/public distribution today launched the open mobile sale of essential commodities including potatoes and various kinds of pulses at subsidized rates at the CAF/PD Sangaiporou godown.

Speaking to mediapersons during the launching of the sale, Yaiskul stated that the essential commodities which are on sale starting today at subsidized rate have been brought in from Silchar.

He further stated that there might be some difference in the prices of the commodities from the pre blockade price. It is due to the transportation charges, he maintained.

He further appealed the people to bear with the difference as the government is trying hard to make available the commodities at minimum prices.

Further, informing the media persons, he stated that as a first phase of the programme, ten areas have been chosen by the state in Imphal, however it will be spread to other parts of the state subsequently.

The mobile sale was launched at around 10 this morning by the CAF/PD director in the presence of officials of Weight and Measure department, who took the mobile sale counters to the different locations.

The weight and measure department also supplied the electronic weighing machines used during the sale.

The mobile sale counters were set up at Kwakeithel Bazar, Singjamei Bazar, Lamlong Bazar, Palace Gate, Khuyathong, Hathi Chowk, Kongba Bazar, Khongnang Ani Karak, Chingmeirong, Tera bazaar and at Lamphel Sanakeithel.

During the mobilesale, potatoes were provided at the rate of Rs 15/kg, mangal at Rs 35/kg, mussorie (Masoor dal) at Rs 51/kg and mairongbi (arhar dal) at Rs 56/kg.
