MPP submits memorandum to PM and HM on blockade issue

IMPHAL, Sept 19: Manipur People’s Party (MPP) has today submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister and Home Minister of India urging them to take up necessary action to address the issue of economic blockade and abnormal price hike in the state.

Speaking to media persons after submitting the memorandum through the Governor of Manipur, MPP president Nimaichand Luwang stated that the people of the state are suffering extremely due to misgovernance of the state government. The present crisis of Sadar Hills could have been resolved without any untoward incident but now the negligence of the government has aggravated the situation.

He said he is hopeful that the centre would heed to their demand and take up necessary action to redress the grievances of the people of the state. The centre should better promulgate President’s Rule if the state government fails to work in the interest of the people.

Nimaichand also appealed to the blockade supporters to shun violence and take up more democratic agitations rather than making their fellow brothers and sisters suffer due to the economic blockade imposed along the national highways for more than one month.

The MPP will hold series of sit-in-protests from September 22 onwards against the economic blockade and abnormal price hike in the state.
