MPP urges CBI to investigate into irregularities of MGNREGS

IMPHAL, Sept 29: Manipur People’s Party has sent a complaint letter to the CBI director urging him to investigate into the irregularities of MGNREGS in the state.

A release of MPP stated that the MGNREGS is supposed to provide 100 days of employment to the job card holders but the beneficiaries have been deprived of the benefits by the Gram Panchayat, Zilla Parishad and local MLAs.

The complaint letter to the CBI director also mentioned various projects of MGNREGS which have not been executed even though all funds have been misappropriated by the local representatives and officials.

The projects included land development at Liberal College Luwangsangbam for Rs. 11,00,000, construction of IVR with side drain culvert and shingling from Koirengei via Maibakhul to Mongjam Laishram Chingjil for Rs. 19,85,000, construction of IVR with side drain, culvert and shingling from Awang Potshangbam Khunou via Keikon to Nilakuthi for Rs 19,85,000 and construction of Yairipok Singa, Thoubal district.

The MPP also pointed out forgeries made by the Pradhan in some gram panchayats.
