PCI team to inspect PM package projects in state during visit

IMPHAL, Sept 22: A team of the Planning Commission of India led by BK Chaturvedi, member of the commission will be visiting the state capital on September 30 on a one day visit to attend a national workshop on “Impact of climate change on “Impact of climate change on Biodiversity Management in North-Eastern India with particular reference to Manipur” on the same day.

During their stay in the state, the team will also inspect various undergoing projects undergoing in the state under the Prime Minister’s package including the Capitol project,  High Court Complex, City Convention Centre and Manipur Film Development  Corporation building.

Meanwhile, in view of the visit of the central team in the state special Secretary (Planning), government of Manipur Dr. Sajad Hassan, had convened a meeting yesterday afternoon and reviewed the progress works of the projects taken up under the PM package including, Railway Line, Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal, upgradation of  National Highways -53, Capitol Complex, Imphal including, High Court, Assembly and Civil secretariat,  Mini Secretariat at Tamenglong, City Convention Centre, Imphal, 33/11KV Sub-Station at Jessami and Tamie sub-division of Tamenglong district, preparation of Loktak Lake DSHE project and Tipaimukh HE Project,  50 bedded hospitals at Senapati and Ukhrul districts,  Novodaya Vidalaya at Tamenglong, Police station at Jessami and Intregated Check Post (ICP), at Moreh.

According to an official source, the meeting was also attended by all the head of the departments concerned including transport, works, MAHUD, power and Commerce and Industries, who tabled their respective notes on the progress of the projects concerning their departments.

The source also added that the notes tabled by the department heads concerned will further be presented during the inspection tour of the visiting team on September 30.

The source further mentioned that the team will be touching down at the Imphal airport at 10:35 am of September 30 and will be receive by the state chief secretary DS Poonia special sectary Planning, Dr. Sajad Hassan, IAS, protocol officier and Laison officer at the airport.

It has further elaborated that the team will head straight for Loktak Lake and inspect the progress of works at the waters sports complex there and will return to the state capital at around 1 pm.

The team is likely to continue with their inspection tour at the work site of Capitol Project, High court Complex, City Convention centre and Manipur Film Development Corporation building where the team will be accompanied by the state principal secretary works and chief engineer Works.

The team will attend the national workshop at Hotel Classic later in the evening.

The team will leave Imphal for Kohima in the morning of the next day at around 8am, the source added.
