Police officers asked to ascertain extortions on FCI manager

IMPHAL, Sept 2: SP Imphal West has directed the officer-in-charge of Lamphel police station and SDPOs of Imphal, Lamphel and Sinjamei police stations to verify the report of extortions made by two separate under ground groups to the manager of Food Corporation of India (FCI), Sangaiprou.

SSP Imphal West, in his official wireless message, informed the officers that as per the information received from the state intelligence department, S/S Major Ningthi Meitei, secretary project, assistant secretary home and assistant secretary (finance) of the underground outfit PREPAK (Progressive) has demanded one truck of rice every year from the Manager FCI, Sangaiprou during the first week of July.

Another Khaba Meitei, finance-in-charge of KCP (KK Nganba) faction also demanded three percent from the monthly budget of rice and two percent from the salary of FCI staff from the manager which are to be paid before the second week of every month.

The SSP instructed the officers to make proper verifications and submit a report at the earliest.
