IMPHAL, Sept 27: Remembering the resolution adopted by the then Manipur Assembly against the Merger Agreement on September 28, 1949, the proscribed PREPAK has once again denounced the Merger Agreement as null and void.

A statement of PREPAK issued by assistant secretary publicity and propaganda, Leibakngakpa Luwang, mentioned that Maharaja Budhachandra was forced to sign the Merger Agreement at Shillong in 1949 thereby depriving the right to self-determination of the Manipuris.

The Indian leaders had annexed Manipur following the footsteps of the Britishers.  The people of Manipur will never accept the fake Merger Agreement signed in 1949, it said.

Moreover, the agreement with Maharaja Budhachandra was not legitimate as the power of the Monarch was already transferred to then Manipur Assembly set up according to Manipur Constitution Act, 1947, the statement mentioned.
