IMPHAL, Sept 19: Volunteers of the All Manipur Democratic Women Association (Manipur State Committee) staged a sit-in-protest today at the Keishampat Junction, Imphal to protest against the present economic blockade imposed along the national highways of the state, price hike and atrocities committed against women.
Various representatives of the association during their protest demonstration strongly condemned the state government for its policies which has resulted in the rise of social dissatisfaction among the state populace and further to the imposition of economic blockades on both the national highways of the state at present.
Various demonstrates also expressed their condemnation for the ever increasing atrocities committed against women and even killing of women mercilessly in the state.
Yumnam Romoni Devi, president, AMDWA, has further drawn the attention of the womenfolk of the state stating that the time has come for the women of the state to come out unitedly and fight against the increasing violation of women rights and atrocities committed upon the women and also to share the platform in solving various problems lying in front of the society considering it as one of their responsibilities.
