`Social worker becoming title for aspirant candidates of election`

IMPHAL, Sept 28: “The word ‘social worker’ has been misused by some vested individuals to their own favour, branding social worker to aspiring candidates aiming to contest election is unfortunate” said former militant leader MI Khan, who has now turned to active politics.

MI khan was speaking as chief guest, during the inaugural function of extension and renovation works of a Library at Thiyam Khunjao’s club of Scientific Educational Welfare Organisation (SEWO), Imphal east district.

The construction works costing Rs 60,000 was funded by MI Khan who is also an aspiring candidate of the Keirao Assembly constituency for the upcoming general election.

Further in his speech the former militant leader said that libraries are vital as education is the back bone of the society and asserted that life has become meaningless without education today.

Library is a platform which will give extra knowledge and keep the students busy during there free time thereby preventing them from being idle. “An idle mind is devil’s workshop and being idle is the main factor that youths are often misguided”, added MI Khan.            

He also assured to donate Rs one lakh for the books to be stock at the Library if he is elected as the MLA of the Keirao constituency.

The former militant leader said the word social workers is misused by some vested interest individual for their own good. It is unfortunate that it (social worker) has become a title for aspiring candidates intend to contest election, he said.

The Pradhan of Chanam Sandrok GP, attended the function as president. Many villagers, local clubs, elders in and around the area also attended the function.
