IMPHAL, Sept 15: All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal (TKLI), Democratic Students’ Alliance for Manipur (DESAM), Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF), and Universal Mother Organization and other civil society and organization have strongly condemned the rape and murder of Vasmi Khaleng of Ukhrul district, who was found dead on September 11 afternoon at Cheiraoching.
The president of AMSU, Th. Suresh stated that the murderer should be given capital punishment. The students’ bodies of the state would take stringent steps if the government fails to exhibit transparency in the investigation.
President of Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal (TKLI) Pamreiso Raiping appreciated the Manipur police department for timely arrest of the accused, Wungthem Mwon.
He also appealed to the police department to take up necessary action to award capital punishment to the culprit.
