Students caught watching movies after bunking classes

IMPHAL Sept 1: Several students in school uniform were caught red handed by the volunteers of a student body while they were watching a movie shown at Pratap Talkies after bunking their classes.

Acting on a tip off, the volunteers of Kangliepak Students’ Association conducted a raid at the cinema hall and caught 28 students in school uniforms.

Speaking to media persons, vice-president of KSA, Premananda stated altogether 18 boys and 10 girls were caught during the raid. Nine students were from Zenith Hr. Sec. school, five from HRD academy, three each from Brilliance School and Johnstone Hr. Sec. School, two each from Manipur Public School, Budhachandra Academy and Biramangol college and one each from Jain Mahavir and Temple of Learning.

They had bunked their normal classes today on the pretext of buying gifts and other items for the coming teachers’ day celebration, he said.

Kh. Premananda further appealed for supports from social organizations on the association’s campaign for better academic environment in the state said that the behaviors of such students should be discourage   from recurring in the future. He also appealed the students’ communities that the present trend of observing teacher’s day into a grand celebration should be avoided as this has resulted to various issues which are adversely affecting the academic atmosphere within the students’ circle.

In the meantime, the executive member of Film Forum Manipur, M. Eepu while addressing  media persons assured that stern actions will be taken up to those cinema hall that allows entering of students in school/ college uniforms inside the Hall premises operating in the state. He elaborated that the Forum along with the KSA has been campaigning against the behaviours of such students’ communities. Earlier a restriction was also imposed to student communities going for cinema in school/college uniform in the state he added.

  1. first try to stop all the general strikes and bandhs which are going on in manipur and disturbing the academic calender….catching students from cinema hall in school uniform,bunking classes is good a thing but avoiding of bandhs and general strikes would be better for the students….
