IMPHAL, September 27: The results for the first Teacher Eligibility Test conducted by the state government through the Board of Secondary Education have been announced today.
Announcing the results during a press conference this afternoon at his office before mediapersons, principal secretary, education (s) J Suresh Babu stated that marks obtained in the TET exam will have 50 percent weightage during the recruitment to the post of primary and upper primary school teachers.
“Candidates who have passed the exam will be provided with official certificates by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur which will be valid for seven years, however if the candidate is unsatisfied with his or her score, they can still appear in the next exam”.
He also added that the government will soon advertise the posts of Primary and Upper Primary teachers.
According to an official statement of the department of education, the total pass percentage stood at 39.90 for Paper I, while Paper II has a pass percentage of 45.32.
Out of a total of 26274 candidates appearing in the Paper I, 10220 candidates passed.
In Paper I, 5871 candidates appeared in the general category with 1129 making the cut, while 10557 appeared in the OBC category with 4613 candidates passing.
8556 candidates appeared in the ST category with 3906 passing the exam whereas 1181 candidates appeared in the SC category with 535 passing the exam for Paper I.
109 physically handicap candidates also appeared in the Paper I exam with 37 passing the first TET exam.
In Paper II, a total of 15680 candidates appeared the exam with 7107 making it to the pass list.
3727 candidates appeared in the general category with only 818 passing the exam, while 3358 candidates passed out of a total of 6563 candidates in the OBC category in Paper II.
2518 candidates passed in the ST category out of a total of 4521 candidates in Paper II. 380 candiates out of 792 passed from the SC category while 33 out of 77 candidates passed from the PH candidates.
It has further stated that for primary teachers the academic score will be counted on the basis of Class X, Class XII and diploma in the elementary education or B.Ed. For the Upper Primary teachers the academic score will be counted on the basis of Class X, Class XII, degree and diploma in elementary education or B.Ed.
