IMPHAL, September 29: Three trucks loaded with plywood coming from Imphal were reportedly burned down by suspected Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee supporters this late evening at around 7 pm at Thomas ground, Kanpokpi.
According to a reliable source, the trucks bearing registration nos. AS 09 T 1631, AS 01 DC 2795 and AS 03 D 1929, were coming from Imphal side along the NH 2 (39) were stopped by economic blockade supporters at Thomas ground.
On finding the plywoods inside the trucks, the supporters set the trucks on fire, however the drivers managed to escaped from the spot leaving the trucks behind in the hands of the blockade supporters.
Meanwhile, another source has informed that fire tenders were stopped from entering the incident area by suspected blockade supporters.
Altogether 32 vehicles including goods carriers and other vehicles have been set on fire by supporters of SHDDC and UNC during the economic blockade and counter economic blockade imposed along the national highways of the state.
