IMPHAL, Sept 13: A team of Imphal East district police commandos apprehended one cadre of underground UPKK identified as Ninghtoujam Udoy Singh, 32, s/o of N Budhachandra Singh of Brahmapur nahabm Leikai from Bamon Leikai this wee hours during search operation from Bamon Leikai area.
According to a release of SP, Imphal East the police during the spot verification the arrested person revealed to the police that, he joined the outfit in the month of December last year through one Banty alias Hera of Yaiskul and he was involved in extortion of money from general public, government officials and businessmen etc, the release added.
In yet another incident, a team of Imphal West district police commandos arrested one cadre of the underground NSCN(IM) identified as Chawang Tingdeimai Ashikha, 21 s/o Tdmai Larha of Makul village, Senapati district from Kanglatombi bazaar area yesterday early morning around 4.30am.
According to an official source, the police during their spot verification the arrested NSCN(IM) cadre disclosed to the police that, he is working under the command of S/S finance secretary Owe Salune of the outfit who is hoding in charge of Morbung-Imphal section. He also further disclosed to the police that he was assigned to to extort money from general public, shopkeepers and vehicles owners plying along NH-39 for party fund. One Nokia mobile handset, one cash receipt book of “Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim”, shepourmaram Region having 19 leaves and five numbers of letter heads marked as “Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim” office of the administrative officer Shepoumaram region were seized from the arrested cadre, the source added.
