Week long farmer training on water conservation inaugurated

IMPHAL September 20: A week long farmers’ training programme on scientific Soil and water conservation measures with special reference to Horticulture organized by the ICAR–RC NEH region, Manipur center, Lamphelpat under the aegis of SWDAL, ICAR Umiam, Meghalaya was inaugurated today at the premise of the center.

The inaugural ceremony of the week long farmers’ training programme was attended by L. Palindro Singh, director, department of agriculture and Dr. N. Prakash, joint director ICAR, Manipur centre as the chief guest and president respectively.

Speaking at the occasion the chief guest Palindro stressed on the remedial measures to curve water scarcity and deterioration of soil quality that are responsible for hindering the progress of agricultural activities in the state. He highlighted upon the need to disseminate proper technical know-how to farmers to enhance skills which could be employed in their agricultural activities. Later during his speech Palindro, further appealed to the farmers to approach the department in order to take the opportunities provided by the government that are meant for the welfare and progress of the state farmers.
