Wildlife photo competition held

    IMPHAL, Sept 24: A wildlife photo competition was organized by Wildlife Wing of Forest department as a part of the celebration of Wildlife Week today at the head-office of Forest department, Sanjenthong.

    Altogether 11 photographers took part in the competition.

    The jury members of the competition were Pradip Phanjoubam, editor of Imphal Free Press, RK Birjit, L Mohendro, conservator of forest and eminent environmentalist Dr K Shamungou.

    Speaking at the inaugural function of the competition, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Kharshiing stated the forest department will take up stringent action against poachers and those who sell endangered birds and animals in the open market.

    He further stated that the forest department would conduct awareness programmes for the conservation of wildlife in the state, and appealed to the public to render utmost help and support in this venture.

    The result for the photo competition will be announced on the inaugural function of Wildlife Week Celebration to be held in the first week of October.
