12 year old found dead after missing for two days

IMPHAL, October 21: A 12 year old student of Bishnupur Public School, who had failed to return home after leaving for his school on the morning of October 19 was found dead inside the CI College, Bishnupur district late this morning at around 11 am.

According to a family source, the boy identified as Mutum Manichandra, s/o M Manitomba of CI college road ward no VIII had left home on the morning of October 19 for his school, however he failed to return home since then.

On further enquiring with the school authorities, the boy had never reached the school that day, the source added.

The family had further filed a complaint with the police station concerned regarding the disappearance of the boy.

Further according to the source, the mother of the boy Dhanabati worried with the long disappearance of her son, met a local priestess (Maibi) of Wabagai area, who informed her that her son will be found inside a bush inside the CI College campus.

Hearing the dreaded proclamation of the priestess, Dhanabati immediately made a telephone call to her husband and asked him to check the college campus, the source informed media persons.

Manitomba after receiving his wife’s phone call went into the college campus taking along some local neighbours and found the dead body of his son lying face down among one of the bushes inside the college campus as foretold by the priestess.

The locals further informed the Bishnupur Police who arrived at the spot and called forensic science experts from the Pangei Forensic science Investigation centre.

After arrival the team conducted an inquest of the spot.

On examination of the spot and the dead body at the spot, the forensic science team found both the gold earrings of the boy. The boy’s pants were found around his knees.

The team also found the boy’s schools, a bottle of ink remover, a dendrite tube and an empty plastic bag of country made liquor from near the dead body.

Even though no injury was found on his body, the boy was found with some blood on his face which could have fallen from his ears and nose.

The dead body has been deposited at the RIMS morgue for further examination.

Meanwhile, both the mother and the father on finding that their only son is dead fainted and have to be hospitalized at the RIMS hospital.

Meanwhile, in protest against the incident, shops located around the Bishnupur market area remained closed for the day. The locals of the area also held a sit in protest at the local market shed.

The Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur, DESAM and the Kangleipak Students’ Associaton have condemned the act of killing the boy and the subsequent act of leaving the dead body inside the campus of the college.
