IMPHAL, Oct 19: The Pediatric department of JNIMS today formally handed over an infant (orphan) to the social welfare department.
The infant believed to be a few days old was found abandoned near the electricity department office at Lamphelpat on October 11 and handed over to JNIMS authorities by the Lamphel police station.
G. Seityabati, director social welfare department, informed that the infant will be kept at the Sishu Griha subordinate unit of the department. She further lauded the effort of the police and the JNIMS doctors for their swift action.
