IMPHAL, October 27: A mob erupted at Kongpal Laishram leikai this evening at around 7:30 pm after a 32 year old man was alleged of raping a physically challenged 12 year old girl of the same locality.
A family member of the victim informed media persons that the incident happened when the victim Rani (name change) was alone with her six year old younger brother at their home as all the elders of the family were outside.
However an aunt of the victim heard her crying when she return home at around 12:30 pm this noon and on checking, she saw blood trickling down her thighs, the member informed.
Suspecting some wrong doings, the family members asked the victim and her younger brother about who had visited the house in the absence of the elders. The younger brother informed that the accused Thokchom Bobby, 32, s/o Rupachandra of the same locality had come and sent him with a Rs 100 note to buy sweets at which the child refused. The accused persisted and the child came out, however after coming out from the house and looked in through the window and found the accused sitting with the victim.
Enraged over the incident, members of the local club nabbed the accused and questioned him at the club premise.
Meanwhile, a member of the club informed that on being questioned Bobby only said “I am sorry” and said nothing else.
The accused Bobby has been further handed over to the police.
