IMPHAL, Oct 26 (NNN): A one-day sensitization programme on “Alternative Arrangement” was organized at Longmai Bazaar, Noney in Tamenglong district on Wednesday.

Addressing at the programme, United Naga council (UNC) president L Adani accused the government of Manipur of utilizing state funds only in the valley districts.

He said the government has `insulted our rights and dignity` for quite a long time.

“We understand that the general public have shouldered the brunt of bandhs and blockades though we do not want such agitations but the government prompted us to do it”, said the UNC president.

Appealing to the people to bear with them, he said, “We are in pursuit of our ultimate goal.”

He also appealed to all the Naga underground organizations and civil society bodies to unite together to achieve their demands although the Nagas are a diversified community.

Seth Shatsang, general secretary of All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM), who was also present in the public discourse said, “Whenever we launch agitations in the past we achieved success because of the public support.”

“The present demand of the Nagas is not the last one but public should support the other demands we raise in the future too”, said Seth.

“Our stir will carry on further until and unless we get our demand”, maintained the ANSAM general secretary.

The meeting was also attended by Sword Vashum, Solomon Ningsen, president, Tangkhul Nagalong, Chingya, convenor, Naga People’s Manipur Human Rights and executive councils of NPO, CNPO and UNC.

The sensitization programme on Alternative Arrangement was jointly organized by Zeliangrong Baudi, Tamenglong district, Longmai Bazaar Board, Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Longmai area and Inpui Students’ Union.

More than 2000 people, including leaders of various organizations from the surrounding villages turned up to participate the meeting.
