A sit-in-protest cum public meeting was organized against the creation of Sadar Hills district and inclusion of Naga villages in the valley districts at Irong Ngaobikhong village, Senapati district today.

UNC general secretary, Gaidong Kamei accused the government of Manipur for attempting to take advantage by creating unrest among the Nagas and Kukis so as to give away some parts of the hills to valley districts of the state.

He maintained that they were not protesting or planning to fight with other communities but to safeguard the land and right of the people.

Kamei said, “A single ADC member will not be allowed to come in the hill districts nor will be permitted to launch any campaign for Chief Minister O Ibobi in the forthcoming election and the message of UNC is loud and clear.”

“How long the ADC members will stay at Khuman Lampak in Imphal or under the protection of Manipur police commandos in their complex”, questioned the UNC general secretary.

He also said they have been elected for five years only, which UNC has already declared null and void. “Where will they go after the completion of the term as they cannot return to their respective native villages”, he further twittered.

Challenging the district councilors, Gaidon Kamei once again dared them to come to the hill districts if they have the guts.

“The Naga issue has become a global issue and we should support the peace talks between NSCN-IM and the government of India to avoid commitment of mistakes in the peace process”, appealed the Naga leader.

T Disinang, chairman, Liangmai Naga Council, Senapati who spoke at the meeting alleged the Manipur government for creating problem between the Kuki and Naga communities saying Sadar Hills district cannot be created after curving out Naga inhabited areas.

The sit-in-protest cum public meeting was jointly organized by people from Kangpokpi, Saitu and Saikul assembly constituencies under the aegis of Saikul Area Naga People’s Organization (SANPO).

In the meeting, it was also informed that SANPO will submit a memorandum to Prime Minister to urge him to uphold the MOUs signed between the government of Manipur and various Naga frontal organizations regarding formation of the proposed Sadar Hills district.

IMPHAL, Oct 19(Newmai News Network): The militant outfit Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) alleged today that around 50 cadres of NSCN-IM swooped down and attacked a hide-out of ZUF early morning of Tuesday.

“The blood thirsty Hebron heroes came and attacked the ZUF on Tuesday morning at Nongadang village under Khoupum block, Tamenglong district where a gun battle was ensued between the two groups from around 5 am and lasted till 9am,” alleged the ZUF today.

ZUF warned NSCN-IM and said that the group should be responsible for any unfortunate incident that occur in the future in the Zaliangrong region.

The present incidents are witnessed by the Zaliangrong people, so the people should identify who are the wrong doers and who are doing right, stated the ZUF.

Afer a request from many Zaliangrong civil bodies, a peace meeting was going to be held at Nongadang village with Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR), Zeliangrong Baudi (ZB), Zeliangrong Union (ZU), ZSU-AMN, ZSUM, etc for the betterment of Zaliangrong society, the ZUF added.

“But NSCN-IM is not cheered at the leaders` effort to bring peace and unity in our society,” the ZUF said, adding that for that reason they attacked the ZUF.

“They want bloodshed, they have ruled over Zaliangrong society through the barrels of guns and they want to act as Adolf Hitler who ruled over Germany inflicting untold miseries,” the statement of ZUF further said.
