IMPHAL, Oct 2: Miscreant left a Chinese made hand grenade at the residence of councilor of Lilong Thoubal Nagar Panchayat at Lilong Arapti Mapal under Irilbung police station today.
The councilor is identified as Wahengbam Premananda alias Angou, 34, s/o W. Khelendro.
Police sources said that the bomb was found by the councilor’s wife at the corridor of their residence in the wee hours today at around 4:30 am.
The Irilbung police retrieved the bomb around 7:30 am and safely disposed at a nearby area.
Decrying the bomb threat the local people, clubs and meira paibis staged a sit in protest at Lilong Arapti Mapal.
According to the councilor he has been intimidated several times earlier including firing gunshots at his residence by armed miscreants.
