District boundary re-organisation committee recieves representations from several bodies

IMPHAL, October 5: Various organizations of the state have submitted their representations to the Committee on Re-Organisation of the Administrative and Police district boundary which will be brought up during the third round of the committee’s public hearing which will be held on October 7 at 3 pm at the official chamber of the chief secretary.

According to an official source, the organizations which have submitted their representations include 72 representations including from Tonjei Marin District Demand Committee, Naga Peoples’ Organization (NPO), United Committee Manipur (UCM), Committee on protection of Tribal Areas, Manipur (COPTAM) and Saikul Area Naga Peoples’ Organisation (SANPO). 

Meanwhile, the committee has also advised the representatives of the various organizations to contact the under secretary revenue H Balkrishna in order to confirm their appearance in the public hearing of October 7.

The Committee on Re-organisation of the Administrative and Police district boundary headed by the state chief secretary was constituted following a cabinet decision in order to bring and amicable solution to the various demands for separate districts in the state including the demands for separate Sadar Hills district, Tonjei Marin district, Jiribam district and the and subsequent oppositions to the demands.

It may be further mentioned that the committee had already convened two hearings in the month of September and had already recorded views and counter views of various organizations on the district demands.
