Dyeing workshop highlights schemes for weavers

IMPHAL, October 14: The Weavers Service Centre, govt of India, ministry of Textiles, O/o the development commissioner for Handlooms, Porompat, Imphal east organized a “Two-day design exhibition-cum-dyeing workshop” at the training hall of Food processing, Porompat.

According to a release of the ministry of Textiles, O/o the development commissioner for Handlooms, Porompat Th Arunkumar Singh, general manager, district industries centre, Imphal east andH Rajendra Singh, president, Manipur Handloom promotion council inaugurated the workshop as chief guest and president.

Speaking during the workshop, Kommu Ravindra, officer in charge, highlighted that the WSC has been conducting regular training programmes in weaving, designing, dyeing and printing for one month and four months and other special training programmes in Jacquard, Dobby, Silk dyeing and dyeing in natural colours are also organize, stated the release.

All hadloom organzations, entrepreneurs were appealed to make use of the benefits it added.

Meanwhile, G Sanatomba Sharma from ICICI Lombard GIC highlighted “Mahatma Ghandhi Bunkar Bima Yojna” life Insurance Scheme, to the weavers.

During the workshop, various hand woven designs and fabrics woven using Jacquard, Dobby, yarn dyed with vegetable dyes were displayed.

It has further stated that demonstration of dyeing and information about handloom schemes were given to the participants by the staff of WSC.

Weavers from different handloom clusters and handloom organizations attended the workshop, it added.
