IMPHAL, October 21: In a gruesome violent incident, a middle-aged woman was seriously injured when her father in law attacked her with a sword machete this morning at around 6:30am.
According to family member, the wounded woman has been identified as Wahengbam Ashalata, 45, w/o W Chaotombi of Ghari Makha leikai under Lamphel Police station, while her father in law has been identified as W Gulamjat, 75.
The source further informed media persons that the violent incident could have resulted from land disputes.
The two since early morning have been quarrelling, stated the family member.
After a quarrelling for some time, Chaotombi attacked his daughter in law with the machete leaving Ashalata with three serious injuries one on the back of her head and two on her shoulder.
Other family members along with locals afterwards took the injured Ashalata to RIMS, while her father in law was taken into custody by the police and a case has been registered regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, the same source further informed media persons that the husband of the injured Ashalata who is an auto-driver was not at home during the incident.
He was later informed by the family members.
