Festival of narrative arts kicks off

IMPHAL, Oct 3: A seven-day festival of narrative art forms of Manipur organized by Institute of Performing Arts, Imphal under the sponsorship of ministry of Culture, government of India and Manipur Ensemble was inaugurated today at Manipuri Ensemble Complex located at Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai, Imphal west.

The inaugural function was graced by senior opposition MLA O Joy and deputy director of art and culture, W Mera as the chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, MLA O Joy stated that the people should preserve and promote their own art and culture as they exhibit their identity to others.
He maintained that the Manipuris have the richest art and culture in the world. The festival as such is the driving force for the upliftment of various art forms in the state.
Langthabal is one of the historically important places linked to the rich art and culture of the state, O Joy noted.
