Foundation stone inaugurate

IMPHAL, October 6: Public Health Engineering department minister TN Haokip today laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Accelerated Rural Water Supply Scheme, ARWS at Heignang Makha Leikai this morning.

Speaking at the function, the minister stated that since the river is the main source of water supply in the state, the people should realized that polluting of the river could be harmful.

He further added that the main objective of the ARWS is to made available safe drinking water to the general public in the rural areas and that river is the main source of water for the scheme.

He further stated that the total project cost of the Heingang ARSW is Rs.50 lakhs and once it is completed it will provide safe drinking water to around 50,000 people living in and around Heingang and Kairang.

He further stated that the success of the scheme lies in the co-operation of the people.

Local MLA N Biren who presided over the inaugural function stated that the SPF government while considering the grievances of rural people has been able to introduce several schemes like the ARWS.

He further stated that considering the lack of safe drinking water in the area, the SPF government had decided to provide the locality with the scheme. He further added that the success of the scheme lies in the hands of the people.

The function was attended by chief engineer PHED, local public and others.
