Governor, CM greet on Kut

IMPHAL, October 31: The Governor of Manipur, Gurbachan Jagat has greeted the paeople of Manipur on the occasion of Kut Festival of Kuki-Chin-Mizo tribes.

The greetings of the Governor mentioned that the post harvest festival of Kuki-Chin-Mizo, Kut is a thanksgiving to God for a bountiful harvest. The festival symbolizes compassion, gaiety and gratitude. It provides a unique opportunity to people cutting across the barriers of caste, creed and religion to make sincere introspection of their own thoughts and value.

He further stated that Kut would spread the message of peace, harmony, friendship, compassion and forgiveness which helps in strengthening the sense of oneness and the concept of peaceful co-existence among all ethnic groups- the age-old glorious tradition of the people of Manipur.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has also greeted people on the joyous occasion of Kut festival.

In his message, Ibobi stated that the festival occupies a unique position not only among the Kuki-Chin-Mizo group of people but also among other communities in the state. The festival will spread the message of peace, communal harmony, friendship and brotherhood amongst various communities, he added.

The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president, Gaikhangam in a statement has also greeted the people of Manipur especially the Chin-Kuki-Mizo communities on the auspicious occasion of Chavang Kut.

He wished the people that the festival will strengthen the communal harmony and bond between different communities co-existing in the state.

Meanwhile, Mountain Division, Major Gen Binoy Poonnen has extended his warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Chavang Kut.

He stated that Kut would not only be a binding force to keep the people of Manipur closer but it is also a platform to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Kuki-Chin-Mizo people and enhance the spirit of unity, brotherhood among the people of Manipur.
