Govt fails to keep salary promise

IMPHAL, Oct 26: Even as the finance department had announced an official clearance allowing withdrawal of salaries and allowances for the state government employees for the month of October from October 20 just a few days back, state employees from different department have expressed that the government has failed to act on its official order.

An employee of the Agriculture department on conditions of anonymity, has stated that no other state employees other than the state police force have been able to withdraw their salaries even after the recent announcement of the government. 

Meanwhile, according to a reliable source the failure on the part of the government is due to the failure of the respective departments to finalized the Manipur Government Employees’s List MGEL.

Further investigation by this reporter led to the revelation that more than 200 files related to the MGEL are lying unattended at the table of the state commissioner finance Binod Rajan,IAS due to the lack of official clearance from the head of departments concerned.
