IPS officers appointed as nodal officers for security provision to general election

    IMPHAL, October 1: In a step to ensure a violence free general election to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly 2012, and in compliance to the recommendations of a high security meeting held recently, two IPS officers of the state have been appointed as state nodal officers to look after the security managements of the general election.

    In this connection, an official order issued by the DGP Y Joykumar Singh has mentioned that LM Khoute, addl DGP (Arm Police/Training) has been appointed as nodal officer regarding identification of needed manpower for the general election, while T Pachou, IPS, IGP (Adnm) has been appointed as nodal officer for all security arrangement other than man power.

    Further, according to an official source, the state government following official intimations from the Election Commission of India for the possible holding of the 10th general election of the Manipur Legislative Assembly by last part of January or first part of February ,  had further instructed the state police department to take up necessary preparations regarding security.

    The government had also directed the state election department to complete the publishing of electoral rolls as early as possible or by November end.

    Meanwhile, the state election department as per the directives from the Election Commission of India has published the drafted electoral rolls of the state on September 28 officially, the source added.
