Irabot sceptical about law and order in state after alleged scuffle in front of his house

IMPHAL, October 4: Tension erupted late last night in front of the residence of minister Y. Irabot, when three individuals including a Jemander of the 4th IRB, who allegedly identified themselves as supporters of O. Henry  clashed with supporters of the minister at around 10:45pm.

A press conference was held today in connection with the incident at the minister’s residence Ayangpalli road.

Briefing media persons the minister informed that the incident took place last night around 10:40 pm when three individuals coming in a car (I-10 red in colour) bearing registration number MN1X-1749 stopped infront of his residential gate.

The three have been identified as one Yumlembam Chandrakumar alias Momo s/o Y. Debendro of Wangkhei Yambem Leikai at present staying at Khurai Ahongei, Boby Sharma of Thambalkhong and N. Lapin of Wangkhei Keithel Asangbi.

Boby is said to be a Jemander of 4th IRB at present attached with the Kakching Police.

The trio allegedly stopped his workers who were coming from Angom Leikai infront of his residential gate, the minister alleged.

They (workers) were questioned of their identities and what they were doing at the area, the minister said.

Identifying themselves (the trio) as workers of O. Henry-a political aspirant of the constituency, Boby Sharma produced a pistol and threaten to kill the workers, further alleged Y. Irabot.

He maintained that on hearing the altercation the security guards on duty at the minister’s bungalow reportedly came out when a minor scuffle broke out with the trio. Moments later, a large number of workers present inside the minister’s residence was alerted by the commotion and rushed out.

The workers reportedly thrashed the trio when suddenly a team of Imphal East police station led by its OC Geetchandra arrived at the spot and baton charge the minister’s workers including the security guard.

The OC allegedly took Boby Sharma along with the pistol and left the incident spot leaving behind Chandrakumar and Debendro.

The two abandoned accused were taken into custody and they were reportedly handed over to the concerned police station this morning.

At the same time, the minister further informed that a huge quantity of foreign liquor was found from inside the I-10 car in which the trio came.

Further the minister maintained that an IRB personnel terrorizing civilians using a gun in an unauthorized manner is an indication that the law and order system in the state has failed.

He said that it is high time for the government to realize its failure and synchronized the system.

Further he questioned the motive of the Imphal east OC for rescuing Boby and assaulting his guard.
