JAC alleges doctor`s neglect killed pregnant woman

IMPHAL, October 8: A JAC formed in connection with the death of a pregnant woman on October 7 night during preparations for caesarean surgery at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science has demanded the authority concerned to dismiss the doctors concerned immediately. 

Binarani, sister of the patient while speaking to mediapersons during a press conference held at Manipr Press Club stated that her sister identified as Laishram ongbi Binasakhi, 37, w/o L Yaiskul of Heirok Part II, at present staying at Wabagai Hiyanglam, was brought to the hospital on October 6 and had been admitted at the hospital since then following advise from her doctors.

Meanwhile, while having her dinner yesterday at around 7:00pm, the woman’s health started to deteriorate on which her family members started looking for a doctor however since the doctor was unable at his room, a nurse was asked to examined the woman, further briefed a member of the JAC.

He further added that seeing the condition of the woman, the nurse informed a male doctor, who further expressed that, the woman needed to be immediately operated upon since her condition seem to be complicated.

The JAC and the family members have alleged that Binasakhi died because of the failure of the doctors to perform their duty.

The member of the JAC, further stated that the doctors who were present last night had acknowledge that Binasakhi had died due to lack of doctors during the incident, however this morning they have turned from their earlier statement and stated that she had died because of her medical complication and not because of lack of doctors.

The JAC against the Brutal Killing of Binasakhi has demanded the immediate dismissal of the doctors involved in the death of Binasakhi.

The family members have also decided not to accept her dead body until the government looks into their demand.
