IMPHAL, October 3: The Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) has informed that it is going to impose a 120 hours general strike in Jiribam sub-division from 6 pm of October 8 till 6 pm of October 13 against the indifferent attitude of the government on the Jiribam issue.
The JDDC in a statement released by its convener, M. Maipaksana, said that the decision to impose the general strike was taken by the executive members and advisor of JDDC in a meeting convened in the afternoon at 4 pm yesterday.
The meet strongly condemned the government’s apparent wait of election code of conduct in order to avoid the issue of Jiribam and the lack of concern towards Rajkumar who is undergoing fast inside the jail in demand of a separate Jiribam district. Taking serious account to these, the meet unanimously resolved to impose the strike, it said.
It appealed the people to extend their co-operation in making the strike successful.
