IMPHAL, Oct 9: In response to the request of Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee to drop the celebration of Kut festival 2011, the district level Kut committee, Chandel district has informed that it has decided to relinquish celebrating the festival in support of the committee’s demand.
Thanggin Haokip, secretary publicity of the district committee, in a statement said that the decision was unanimously taken by the member of the district committee in its emergency meeting held on October 5.
It appealed the state government for considering the demand of the SHDDC asserting it as a genuine at the earliest in the interest of the people of the Sadar Hills.
