Manipur Theatre day observed

IMPHAL, October 21: The Theatre Centre Manipur today observed the Manipur Theatre Day at the Manipur Dramatic Union.

The function was attended by health minister L Jayantakumar, director Kalakshetra Manipur and secretary, Manipur State Kala Akademi S Vedeshwar Sharma as the chief guest, president and guest of honour.

Speaking at the observation, minister Jayentakumar stated that various arts form in the state are on the decline.

He further observed that the state has failed in nurturing the rich heritage of arts in the state.

It is high time that the artistes of the various arts in the state come together and discussed the ways to nurture and sustain their art forms with the state government in order to save the ever degrading condition of arts in the state.

He further assured all possible help in developing the various art forms of the state. 

The main highlights of the function were the presentation of Theatre centre awards and prize distribution ceremony of the 42nd Short Play Competition for Creative Directors, 2011.
