MLA Surchandra alleged of misappropriating crores meant for development projects

IMPHAL October 8: MLA of Kakching assembly constituency, Y Surchandra  has been alleged off embezzling funds meant for development projects of the said constituency, stated M Syamkumar Singh, secretary of Yenkhom Krishnadas Singh Ningshing Lup, Kakching at a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today.

He stated that the MLA has been unleashing a reign of terror at Kakching area and by conniving with state security forces have been terrorizing the public and arresting individuals for political ends. Further, the MLA has been misappropriating crores of rupees meant for development funds sanctioned under MDS, PHED for the last four years.

Mentioning the construction of a community hall at Khamlangba ground, a sum of Rs 9,20,810  was sanctioned in 2008/09, but on the contrary, the community hall was constructed by  one Y Krishnadas in the memory of his father, he alleged.

Another Rs 3 lakhs meant for construction of a community hall at Sora, Rs 12 lakhs for construction of a community hall at Kakching Wairi, Rs 9,20,810 for construction of community hall at Molnoi village, Rs 9,20,810 for construction of a community hall at Tulshmi, Rs 78.26 lakhs for construction of fishing enclosure at Loushipat, Rs 2.90 lakhs for hill cutting at Loushipat, construction of a gate at Lousipat at a cost of Rs 46 lakhs, Rs 2 lakhs for road construction of Sangeet Academy, Kakching etc  have been withdrawn by the MLA for his personal gains without proper implementation of the development works, he further alleged.

It was further alleged that the MLA have been feeding off the development schemes meant for the public without any regard for the public of the constituency. In the present state of affairs, the organization remembers the spirit of social worker Yenkhom Krishnadas who had worked selflessly for the benefit of the public of the constituency.
