Moderate turn-out recorded despite boycott call of pending ADC polls

IMPHAL, October 24: Elections to 17-Phaibung Khullen district council constituency in Senapati and 3-Chingai district council constituency in Ukhrul have been conducted under tight security arrangement today.

The voters’ turnout in the election was moderate despite of  the boycott call from various organizations. The turnout at Phaibung was 63.28 percent while Chingai recorded only 44.71 percent turnout.

As per the information received from the state election commission, the election was held in five polling stations at Phaibung and 10 polling stations at Chingai

17/5 Lower Phaibung polling station recorded the highest turnout of 98.96 percent while 17/4 Phaibung Khunou recorded the lowest turnout of 4.10 percent. The other three polling stations of Phaibung Khullen, namely 17/1 Phaibung Khullen (A), 17/2 Phaibung Khullen (B) and 17/3 Phaibung Khunou were marked with moderate turnout of 65.85, 78.39 and 72.16 percent respectively.

Moderate voters’ turnout was recorded in four polling stations of Chingai while the remaining six polling stations marked no turnout.

The turnout at 3/1 Chingai High School was 73.9 percent, 3/2 Poi (A) and 3/3 Poi (B) were 90 percent and 3/6 Chalon was 55.6 percent.
