MPCC touches down at Moirang

IMPHAL, October 25: The Moirang Block Congress Committee today organized a one day block level training programme on flagship schemes and other schemes under the UPA and the SPF government cum reception programme of Salam Gopal Singh ex-MLA Moirang, Hemam Bira Singh, Md Abdul Mutalip into the Congress Party this afternoon at the INA ground, Moirang.

The programme was attended by the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and MPCC president Gaikhangam as the chief guest and functional president respectively.

Deputy speaker Th Lokeshwore, Thanga MLA T Mangibabu, MP Th Meinya among others also attended the programme.

Speaking at the programme, Chief Minister O Ibobi stated that the Congress party is a secular party and rejects any division based on religion and communal lines.

The Chief Minister also stated that the party believes in unity among the people and forwarding together towards unity, peace and development.

He further added that the party has welcomed Salam Gopal Singh ex-MLA Moirang, Hemam Bira Singh, Md Abdul Mutalip into the party as the three share the same ideas with the party.

He further elaborated that the three were previously members of the opposition at the state assembly, however due to the inability of their former party to work towards the development of the society; the three had come to the Congress party with the desire to work for the development of the state.

Coming to the welfare projects of the people, the Chief Minister informed the gathering that the government has approved to start construction of a primary health sub-centre at Kwakta area for the benefit of the people of the area.

He also assured that the government is trying to upgrade Kwakta and Lilong sub-division into that of municipality status.  

He further deliberated that every assurance provided by the government to the people will be turned into action sooner or later, however there may be some delay in starting the work.

He also informed that the local MLA M Prithiviraj has been suggesting the expansion of the Khamnu Bazar at Moirang for some time now and the government is fully aware of the needs of the people of the area, and as such the government has approved the expansion of the bazar and the works will be started soon.

Thanga MLA T Mangibabu, in his speech informed that the Congress party has been growing day by day, and that the induction of the three ex opposition leaders has only strengthened the party more.

Now the party will be more effective in bringing development to the area, he added.

While appreciating the works of local MLA M Prithiviraj, MPCC president Gaikhangam elaborated that the people of Moirang is witness to the development works undertaken by the MLA during his short tenure.

Further in his speech he deliberated to the public of Moirang that if the people of the state continue to join hands with the Congress party, the state will race towards development.   

The programme was also attended by councillors, pradhans, panchayat members and the general public also.
