MPP in the process of forming pre-poll alliance with other parties: Nimaichand Luwang

IMPHAL, October 23: The Manipur People’s Party Chanura Marup, Heingang kendra today conducted an awareness programme on the theme ‘Ngashi Eikhoigee Khunaisida Nupigee Thoudang’ at the Luwangshangbam Mayai Leikai community hall.

Speaking at the programme, MPP president Nimaichand Luwang stated that active role from the women of the state is needed to save the state from total degradation. He further stated that even though the state has already witnessed two Nupi Lans in the past, considering the present situation of the state, it cannot be said that another Nupi Lan will not happen in the near future.

While blaming the misgovernance of the present Congress led SPF government for the problems in the state, he has further stated that the government should be blamed for the present economic blockade imposed along the national highways in demand of a separate Sadar Hills district.

Further deliberating on the issue, he criticised the stoic silence maintained by both the Prime Minister and the union home minister on the economic blockade issue in the state, which has greatly affected the people of the state.

He further deliberated that the silence maintained by the centre on the grievances of the people of the state, even though the Prime Minister and the home minister always try to intervene or bring an amicable solution to any kinds of misunderstandings or problems in any other states, shows the apathy of the centre towards Manipur.

Meanwhile, coming back to state politics he informed the gathering that the MPP along with other like-minded political parties of the state is trying to form a pre-poll alliance.

He further stated that the alliance will fight against the Congress led SPF coalition which has totally failed to look into the grievances of the people of the state.

He has further appealed to the people of the state to be aware of the right candidates in the coming general election, he has further elaborated that the people should choose their candidates wisely.

Speaking at the programme, former union minister Th Chaoba stated that the government should be blamed for the present price hike issue in the state.

While stating that women face the major brunt of price rise in the state, he added that the government has failed to look into the welfare of the women of the state.

The PDS system has totally failed in the state and the representatives of the people are only trying to build their houses, he further charged.

He has further asked the whereabouts of the mobile shops introduced by the government to face the spiralling price rice in the state.

He stated that the mobile shops selling pulses and some other essential commodities of the state which was introduced with a Rs One crore fund have vanished from the state after making its presence felt for a few days.

All Manipur Bar Association, secretary Khunaijam Kanta advocate and social activist Mutum Nirmala spoke as resource persons during the programme.
