National voluntary blood donation observation initiates blood donation

IMPHAL, October 11: The Manipur State Aids Control Society in collaboration with the State Blood Transfusion Council, Manipur held a state level observation of the National Voluntary Blood Donation, 2011 under the theme ‘Donate Blood and Save Four Lives’ at the Indoor hall of GP Women’s College today.

Speaking at the function, project director MACS N Ashok Kumar, IAS who attended the observation as the chief guest elaborated that a blood donor should understand the basic concept behind the donation of blood. They should realise that a unit of blood could save four lives, he added.

He further added that such blood donation camp is sending out the message to the people of the state in particular and the world in general to help each other.

Soon after his speech, Ashok Kumar also donated blood during the camp.

Meanwhile, the participants also took out a rally from DIPR gate upto GP Women’s college.

The function was also attended by Dr L Tomcha Khuman, director, SBTC Manipur, Y Chadrasakhi Devi, principal GP Women’s College and Dr A Rajmani Singh programme co-ordinator NSS Cell Manipur University as the president and guests of honour respectively.
