Pending ADC election to be conducted today amidst tight security

IMPHAL, Oct 23: The election commission of Manipur will be conducting the pending Autonomous District Council election to the 17-Phaibung Khullen district council constituency under Senapati Autonomous District Council and 13-Chingai district council constituency under Ukhrul district, tomorrow amidst huge security arrangement.

The commission is going ahead with the election amidst the total bandh imposed by the All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM) and much opposition to the ADC election from the United Naga Council (UNC).

Sources said all the polling personnel including security forces have reached their respective polling stations since yesterday.

Apart from state security forces, altogether 32 companies of CRPF are will be deployed during the poll.

A total of 8444 voters are going to exercise their rights in the two district council constituencies in 10 polling stations. 4475 voters alone will cast their votes in 17-Phaibung Khullen district council constituency and 3169 voters in the 13-Chingai district council constituency.

The result of the election is likely to declare on October 31.
