IMPHAL, Oct 17: Save democracy repeal Afspa has invited all concerned individuals, professionals, students organisations, civil society organisations, women’s groups, theatre activists, academic communities, activists, university communities, progressive organisations and all the people to join in the people’s procession and public meeting at north campus, Delhi university on November 19.

A release of the save democracy repeal Afspa has stated that the procession and meeting has been organised to support the jan karwan – a journay from Srinagar to Imphal, to spread public awarness about Irom Sharmila and removel of Afspa and generate support from public. Jan karwan is organised by save Sharmila solidarity campaign. 

The journey was started on oct 16 from Srinagar and will reach Imphal till oct 26 via Jammu, Ludhiana, Panipat, New Delhi, Aligarh, Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Ranchi, Patna, Malda town, Kolkata, Guwahati and Dibrugarh. Around 10 states will be covered during this 4500 km. of Jan Karwan.

This journey-jan karwan will reach Delhi on October 19 and will leave for Aligarh on October 20. This procession and public meeting is organised as part of the reception of this journey. Let’s welcome this important journey initiated by save Sharmila solidarity campaign. This program is a part of the struggle to repeal Afspa, it stated.
