`Security forces arrest three militant cadres including an extortionist`

IMPHAL, October 11: Security forces have claimed to have arrested three militant cadres from separate counter insurgency operations since yesterday.

According to a release of the PRO IGAR, in the first incident, troops of 23 Assam Rifles arrested a cadre of KCP (MC Lanheiba) militant outfit while conducting operation in the general area of Sabungkhok of Ukhrul district on October 10.

The arrested cadre has been identified as one Maitan Kaishangbam Jiban Meitei, 28, s/o M. Kumar Meitei of Sabungkhok, Imphal east. One 9mm pistol along with two live ammunitions was recovered from him, said the statement.

It further claimed that another cadre of KCP (MC-Noyon) has been arrested by a combined team of 23 AR and 28 AR from the general area of Khongnangkhong on October 11.

The individual has been identified as Kshetrimayum Callin Singh alias Boycha alias Boynau, 20, s/o Kh. Ratan Singh of Top Khongnangkhong, Porompat. He has been handed over to the Porompat Police, it asserted.

On the other, a statement issued by the senior SP Imphal east said that a team of Imphal east district police commandos have arrested a cadre of the proscribed PREPAK from Andro Parking identified as one Md. Abdul Rajaque alias Ningthou, 32, s/o Md. Mushani of Urup Lital Makhong.

It said on verification that the apprehendee disclosed that he joined the outfit in the month of October 2011 through one Tomba of the same outfit and was involved in extortion of money from the general public, govt. officials, businessmen etc.
