IMPHAL, October 15: Security forces have claimed to arrest seven militant cadres since yesterday from different counter insurgency operations.
According to a release of the SP, Thoubal district, a team of Thoubal CDO and 42 Assam Rifles conducted search operation at Pallel Bazar area and arrested one cadre of the PULF (Azad faction) identified as Md Sikandar Khan alias Ibungo, 30, s/o Md Abdul Waheb of Irong Thokchom Leikai at about5:30pm on October 14.
It has also added that Thoubal CDOs alongwith personnel of 33 Assam Rifles conducted search operation at Arong Litan Makhong area and arrested one cadre of Prepak, identified as Wahengbam Ibomcha alias Pathou alias Rabichandra Singh, 27, s/o W Ibochouba Singh of the locality at about 7:30am and recovered one 9mm pistol and two Chinese grenades.
Meanwhile a PRO IGAR release has stated that discovering the movement of UG cadres in the general area of Waithou of Imphal west district, troops of 28 A R of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (s) launched an operation in the area and apprehended one Prepak cadre on Oct 14.
The apprehendee was identified as no.795130 s/s sgt Wahidur Rehman alias Both Ithem, 35, r/o Lilong Yambi Leikai. One 7.65 mm round was recovered from the apprehendee who along with the recovery was handed over to the Lilong Police station, it added.
In yet another incident, troops of 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) launched operation in the general area of Bongyang of Chandel district and apprehended one PULF(MI Khan) cadre on the same day, the release further added.
Further according to the release the apprehendee was identified as Md Rafi Khan, 28, s/o Md Attaullah r/o Yaripok Ningthounai. One 9 mm Pistol with magazine, three 9 mm Pistol rounds, one mobile phone and demand letters were recovered from him, who along with the recoveries was handed over to the Imphal west Police station, it added.
Later, troops of 23 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (s) launched an operation in the general area of Itham Mamang Leikai and apprehended one PLA cadre on the same day, it added.
The release further identified the apprehendee as no.2899 s/s lt cpl Naucha alias Metei Raghumani, 19, s/o Soraisham Ito Meitei, r/o Itham Mamang Leikai, Imphal west and was handed over to Lamlai Police station, added the release.
Meanwhile, troops of 23 AR of 10 Sector and 30 AR of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(s) launched a join operation in the general areas of Pangai and Waiten of Ukhrul district and apprehended two Prepak cadres on October 15. The apprehendees have been identified as Aribam Bishwaroop Sharma, 53, s/o (l) Yaima, r/o Waitor Mayai Leikai, Imphal east and Nameirakpam Samu alias Maimu Singh, 18, s/o N Yaima, r/o Pangal Bazar, Imphal east, it added.
