IMPHAL, Oct 10: The 42nd Short Play Competition for Creative Directors, 2011 organized by
Theatre Centre, Manipur in collaboration with Manipur State Kala Akademi kicked off at
Manipur Dramatic Union Hall, Yaiskul Police Lane, Imphal.
The inaugural function was graced by Sh Vedeshwar Sharma, secretary of Manipur State Kala
Akademi and Wareppa Naba, president of Theatre Centre Manipur as the chief guest and
president respectively.
Speaking at the function, Sh Vedeshwar stated that the rich art and culture of the state has
brought so many honours and laurels and hence all art forms must be encouraged and promoted
to the highest level. The audiences must also appreciate the performance of the artistes.
He further appealed to all to render utmost support and help to raise the standards of
theatre in the state.
Altogether 17 teams are taking part in the competition which will conclude on October 21,
2011.
