IMPHAL, Oct 12: Decrying the incident of bullying some hostellers of Manipur University Boys’ Hostel No.3 by a police officer yesterday, the students’ bodies of the state, namely AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SWAK and SUK have demanded the authorities concerned to take punitive action against the erring police personnel led by SI P Poujalung of Sangsat PS, Ukhrul district.
A joint press release of these students’ bodies stated that the police personnel have been conducting undemocratic activities such as harassing innocent people in the name of maintaining law and order.
The students are not even allowed to enter the Manipur University campus, however, security personnel are given easy access to the campus making them do whatever they like. Yesterday’s incident is really a threat to the students, it noted.
The students’ bodies also lauded the hostellers of Manipur University for their bold act of detaining an irresponsible police officer and teaching him a great lesson.
