Three PREPAK cadres arrested from Balram Village

IMPHAL, Oct 1: On receiving inputs about the presence of suspected UG’s in the general area of Balram village, a joint team of 18  SIKH and Bishenpur police commandos launched an operation in the area and nabbed three hard core cadres of the proscribed outfit PREPAK from Balram Khul Mamang Leikai under Bishenpur district.

An official statement has identified the apprehended individuals as NinthoujamAngangtomba alias Tomba, 47, of Waoroching Mayai Leikai, Maibam Mangi Singh, 58, of Balram Khul Mamang Leikai and Nameirakpam Bungchau Singh alias Prem, 27, of Balram Khul Mamang Leikai.

It has further stated that on verification by the joint team the apprehended activists revealed that they were actively involved in the prejudicial activities of extortion, kidnapping, transportation of arms and ammunition and recruitment of youth into the proscribed outfit.

They had already extorted huge amount of money from civil contractors, govt. servants and more than 10 different schools of Nambol area, it added.

One 7.65 mm pistol (made in Italy) along with five live rounds were also recovered from them. On further verification the UG’s disclosed that they joined the outfit through one Surjit alias Ricks alias Martin who is s/s district secy of Bishenpur district of the outfit.

The apprehended cadre Nameirakpam Bungchau Singh and Romen of Laimaram village who is still absconding were recruited recently by him. The eldest son of cadre N. Angangtomba alias Tomba is Kheda Singh, 28 who is now in Tamu (Myanmar) and is an active cadre of PLA. All the apprehended UG’s along with the seized weapon were later on handed over to Nambol Police Station, the release added.
