Unauthorized garbage dumping lands three in police custody

IMPHAL, Oct 19: The Imphal east district police have arrested three persons for disposing garbage in an unauthorized manner yesterday from New Checkon area, Imphal east district.

A statement released by the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Imphal east, said district police in continuation of its week long cleanliness programme initiated on September 25 under the motto ‘Keep Imphal East District Clean and Green’ arrested three persons under 34 (5) Police Act yesterday.

It said the district police had been deploying its’ personnel alongwith local people at Kounung Mamang and Checkon area to prevent the menace of throwing garbage along the road/streets.

However on October 18 around 8.30 pm three persons identified as Hijam Iboyaima Singh, 28, s/o H. Diren Singh of New Checkon, Koko Nula, 24, s/o Woring of Maring Lane, New Checkon and Krishna Yadav, 30, s/o Ramnarayan Yadav of Bihar, A/P New Checkon were handed over by Local Meira Paibis of Checkon area and police personnel deployed at Checkon area to the OC/Porompat who arrested them under under 34(5) Police Act.

The three were found throwing garbage at a public place of New Checkon.

The arrested individuals were produced before the court of JMIC Imphal east under Non FIR case No. 7/PRT-PS/2011 for further proceedings.

The JMIC/Imphal east disposed off the case by imposing fine @ Rs.200/each, it informed.

The statement further asserted that stringent action will be taken up by the district police under section 34 police act 1861 and other relevant sections of law against any person found throwing garbage on the road or other un-authorised areas.
